Management Staff

Jean Baker is the Project Director for Alive & Thrive (A&T). She has worked more than 30 years in international public health. She spent 15 years on the management and implementation of nutrition, health, and family planning programs in Pakistan, Thailand, Kenya, and Nepal. From 1995-1996 Jean served as director of Wellstart International’s Expanded Promotion of Breastfeeding Project and from 1996-2005 as director of the LINKAGES Project, a global program to improve infant and young child feeding practices. Immediately prior to A&T, Jean was the project director of A2Z, the USAID Micronutrient and Child Blindness Project. AED managed the LINKAGES and A2Z projects, both funded by USAID.

Tina Sanghvi is the Senior Country Director in Bangladesh. She has worked more than 35 years in international health and nutrition as technical advisor and director of country operations in international public health programs in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Tina holds a doctorate in nutrition and training in Global Burden of Disease analysis. She worked for 7 years at the global BASICS – Child Survival project. She is the author of several books and published articles, including Nutrition Essentials – A Guide for Health Managers, on how to mainstream nutrition in health services. Before her A&T assignment, Tina was AED's Country Director for A2Z, a USAID-funded Micronutrient and Child Blindness Project.

Dr. Teweldebrhan Hailu Abrha is the Senior Country Director in Ethiopia. He has over 13 years of experience in reproductive health; maternal, newborn, and child health; nutrition; HIV/AIDS; and TB and malaria prevention. Teweldebrhan most recently worked in Ethiopia for the World Health Organization on HIV and nutrition, including prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Prior to that, he was a public health advisor for International Medical Corps in Zimbabwe and Mozambique and its country director for Southern Sudan. For eight years Teweldebrhan worked with the Relief Society of Tigray (REST) on emergency programs and community-based efforts.

Nemat Hajeebhoy is the Senior Country Director in Viet Nam. She has over 14 years of experience in international health and management having worked in Asia, East Africa and North America. Her work to date has focused on maternal and child health, water supply, sanitation and hygiene promotion, and post disaster rehabilitation. Nemat has worked extensively on behavior change communication strategies and public private partnerships. Her interest lies in program research and cost analysis. Nemat holds a Master’s of Public Health degree in Health Systems Management. Prior to her assignment with Alive & Thrive, Nemat worked as Country Manager for the Aga Khan Foundation in Tanzania and prior to that was AED's country director for the LINKAGES project in India.
