By 2013 Alive & Thrive aims to achieve the following impact and outcomes:

Expected impact

  • More than 800,000 additional infants under six months old exclusively breastfed with rates increasing from 43% to 65% in program areas
  • Stunting prevented in nearly 300,000 children under five representing a 10% reduction (from 43% to 39%)
  • Anemia reduced by 10% (from 50% to 45%) among children 6-23 months old

  • Leadership and broad stakeholder ownership of IYCF interventions within and outside the nutrition sector
  • Enhanced skills and performance of frontline workers
  • Delivery of quality, efficient, and equitable services supportive of IYCF
  • Heightened community awareness of why and how nutrition can build a strong foundation for individuals and communities
  • Access by families to micronutrient powders to enrich the diets of older infants and young children
