Shak Mohammad Abdullah is the Procurement and Contracts Manager in Bangladesh. Abdullah received a master’s of commerce in accounting from Dhaka University, a post graduate diploma in finance from Bangladesh Institute of Management and a master’s of business administration MBA from The Millennium University. He has more then 11 years of work experience with the corporate and development sectors, in the areas of export/import, finance, sub-grants and accounts.

Shah Alam is a Senior Area Manager In-Charge at BRAC Health Program. He received his MPH (Reproductive & Child Health) from Autish Dipanker University of Science and Technology, Dhaka. He joined the BRAC Health Program in 1987 and has extensive experience as a field manager in child survival programs, women’s health and development programs, the National Nutrition Program, Essential Health Care Program, emergency health and nutrition programs, and partnership programs with the Government of Bangladesh, international NGOs, and other stakeholders in the country.

Biplob Banerjee is the Field Monitoring Specialist in Bangladesh. He has more than 20 years of program management experience in the health and socio-economic sectors. He brings extensive field experience in monitoring and evaluation, data management, analysis and report preparation. Prior to joining PCP, he worked for IOCH/MSH (a USAID project in Dhaka, Bangladesh) as a Surveillance Data Manager. He has also worked as short-term consultant for an international organization doing data management and analysis.

Manaj Kumar Biswas is the National IYCF Communication Field Coordinator in Bangladesh. Before joining A&T, he was the Project Manager for the joint GOB-UN-MNH Initiative Project with CARE Bangladesh. Prior to joining CARE Bangladesh Manaj served as a Community Intervention Training Officer for the Perinatal Care Project for the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BIRDEM). Manaj worked for more than 10 years for maternal, neonatal, and child health, and reproductive health projects, in both technical and managerial positions. He has extensive field experience in community mobilization, training, and communications. His areas of expertise are project management, implementation, monitoring, technical assistance, and partnering with local government, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders. Manaj completed his master’s of public health and a master’s of social science from the University of Dhaka.

Mihir Kanti Das is the Program Associate for Finance and Administration. He is a finance graduate of the University of Chittagong, and one of his special competencies is working with the financial package QuickBooks. Before joining A&T he served John Snow Inc. for 17 years in various capacities in finance and administration.

Mohammad Raisul Haque is a Senior Sector Specialist at the BRAC Health Program. Dr. Haque is a medical doctor and holds a PhD in demography from Mahidol University in Thailand. Since 1997 he has been working in BRAC’s Health Program. He brings extensive field experience in Child Health, Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), and facility-based curative care. Prior to joining BRAC Dr. Haque served as a government official under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh. His area of interest is to improve IYCF practices, build multi-sectoral involvement for nutrition in the community, and strengthen the existing policy framework at country level.

Sanjeeda Islam is the Communication Specialist for A&T’s Bangladesh office. Sanjeeda completed her master’s in English Literature and Public Health from Dhaka University. She has more than 20 years of experience in working in the field of Social Communication. Before joining A&T Sanjeeda worked for Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs, Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs and for UNICEF. Her areas of expertise are communication research, communication training, and designing and development of health and nutrition communication packages.

Jebun Nessa Rahman is the Program Specialist in Bangladesh. She has worked for more than 25 years in the health and family planning sector as a clinician, professional advisor, and project officer at the national and international level. Dr. Jebun is a medical doctor and holds an MPH degree from Mahidol University in Thailand. Since 1997she has been working for UNFPA’s Reproductive Health and Family Planning Program, collaborating with government facilities. She brings extensive field experience in maternal and child health, emergency obstetric care (EmOC), prevention of cervical and breast cancer, and facility-based curative care. Prior to joining UNFPA, Dr. Jebun worked for ICDDR,B as a research associate and as a clinician under the Ministry of Health in Iran. Her areas of expertise are program design, technical assistance, and strengthening partnership programs with the Bangladesh government, international NGOs, and other in-country stakeholders.

Sumitro Roy is the Partnership Specialist in Bangladesh. He completed his master’s in rural management from Xavier Institute of Social Services (XISS), India in 1995, specializing in project management. He has worked for international NGOs, the corporate sector, and the government, with the Ministry Of Health and Family Welfare, government of Jharkhand (India). He has also worked for International Development Enterprises, Hindustan Latex Limited, and AED in the areas of public health, social marketing, business development and public-private partnerships. Prior to joining Alive & Thrive, he worked with AED in India for the USAID Micronutrient and Child Blindness Program-A2Z Project.

Kuntal Kumar Saha is the Country Coordinator for the Monitoring and Evaluation component of A&T in Bangladesh. He is a medical doctor, with training in public health and nutrition, and he holds a PhD in international nutrition from Cornell University. Before joining the Alive & Thrive initiative, Kuntal worked at the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research in Bangladesh for about 13 years. He has been involved in research related to household food security, infant and young child feeding, and growth and development of infants and young children in low-income settings.

Tina Sanghvi is the Senior Country Director in Bangladesh. She has worked more than 35 years in international health and nutrition as technical advisor and director of country operations in international public health programs in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Tina holds a doctorate in nutrition and training in Global Burden of Disease analysis. She worked for 7 years at the global BASICS – Child Survival project. She is the author of several books and published articles, including Nutrition Essentials – A Guide for Health Managers, on how to mainstream nutrition in health services. Before her Alive & Thrive assignment, Tina was the Country Director for A2Z, the USAID Micronutrient and Child Blindness Project.

Faria Shabnam is a Senior Nutritionist at BRAC Health Program. She is responsible for providing technical support for process documentation of the Alive & Thrive (A&T) program. Prior to this, she was working in BRAC’s Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health program and was also involved with the Mainstreaming Nutrition Initiative. Faria holds an MPH from the James P. Grant School of Public Health and a MSc in Nutrition from Dhaka University.

Saiqa Siraj is a Senior Nutritionist at BRAC Health Program. She provides technical and operational support to the implementation of infant and young child feeding actions, primarily through the Alive and Thrive program. Prior to this, she led the programmatic work on integrating nutrition into BRAC’s Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health program under the Mainstreaming Nutrition Initiative. She holds an MPH from the James P. Grant School of Public Health and a MSc in Nutrition from Dhaka University. Md.

Md. Saydur Rahman Siddiquee is the Partnership Implementation Field Coordinator in Bangladesh. Saydur holds an MPH degree from State University of Bangladesh. Before joining A&T he was the Demand Side Financing (DSF) Coordinator for the Maternal Health Voucher Scheme project with World Health Organization (WHO). Saydur worked for more than 10 years on maternal and child health projects for the WHO and USAID-funded IOCH/MSH project, in both technical and managerial positions. He brings extensive field experience in child health, Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and EPI disease surveillance. His areas of expertise are project implementation, monitoring, technical assistance, and strengthening partnership programs with the government, UN agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders.

Belal Uddin leads the advocacy component of the Alive & Thrive Bangladesh program. He has a master’s degree in the History of the Economics of Development, and an MBA with a major in human resources. Belal has facilitated national and international interactive events using participatory methodologies for the last 16 years in the areas of advocacy, communication, organizational development, and change management. He has held key positions in various national and international development organizations such as the Smiling Sun Franchise, UNICEF, and others.
