In preparation for a national advocacy meeting on human milk banking in Myanmar, A&T worked with UNICEF to develop a brief on human milk banking as a component of a breastfeeding-friendly health systems. During the meeting, which was led by the Department of Medical Care Services and the National Nutrition Center of the Ministry of Health and Sports (MoHS), with support from UNICEF, key stakeholders agreed to form a technical working group for human milk banking composed of representatives from the MoHS, UNICEF, A&T, and clinicians from Apex Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) around the country. A&T is supporting these NICUs to implement agreed upon workplans including actions on breastfeeding promotion, early essential newborn care (EENC), kangaroo mother care (KMC), and human milk banking.
