Building on experiences and lessons learned from its first five years in Ethiopia, Alive & Thrive Phase II (2014-2017) provided support to roll out elements of the government’s multi-sectoral National Nutrition Program (NNP) aimed at improving breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices

This tool consists of a simple table that traces the pathway from formative research findings in Ethiopia— especially regarding the benefits and barriers to priority behaviors—to approaches/messages for the radio component of our intervention.

Provides a list of small doable actions (i.e., priority behaviors or feeding practices) for mothers and concrete actions that other groups (e.g., fathers, grandmothers, health extension workers, religious leaders) can take to support a mother’s actions.

Provides checklists and guidelines for conducting, reporting on, and developing action plans as follow up to supportive visits by supervisors to observe nutrition services and counseling at multiple levels (zonal, health center, health post, and community).

Contains overview of community approach, community discussion and workshop guides, lessons for schools, Q&A on seven feeding actions, and father’s card.

Provides information and tools to create broad support for making infant and young child feeding a priority issue among regional and federal leaders in Ethiopia.
