In large parts of Amhara region of Ethiopia, food availability and production are among the highest in the country. Yet, so are rates of chronic malnutrition (DHS, 2011). Alive & Thrive, in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia, set out to address these discrepancies.

Provides background information and serves as a leave-behind material at meetings. It provides additional key messaging around the global movement to scale up nutrition, the action steps for policymakers, the power of nutrition, and best feeding practices.

Provides information and tools to create broad support for making infant and young child feeding a priority issue among regional and federal leaders in Ethiopia.

“It’s my responsibility to make sure that my son grows up intelligent and healthy,”says Sabina Yasmin, a 21-year-old mother from a rural village in Bochaganj sub-district in northern Bangladesh.

On Friday, September 21, 2012, I gave birth in a nearby health center to my second daughter.  Her father and I named her Bethlehem. We were happy. God had blessed our family with a healthy and strong baby. I thank God and all that have helped me.
