Southeast Asia and West Africa regional Cost of Not Breastfeeding briefs

Globally, 600,000 children and 100,000 women die every year due to illnesses that could be prevented by breastfeeding. These briefs present the costs of not breastfeeding in two major world regions, Southeast Asia and West Africa.

The World Health Organization's (WHO) standardized questionnaire for assessing infant and young child feeding practices does not include commercial baby cereals (CBC), which are derived from several food groups and are fortified with micronutrients.
