In this paper, researchers present opportunities and challenges for integration of maternal nutrition and mental health screening and a management protocol at routine prenatal care in India, discuss evidence-based interventions in other low- and middle-income countries including India, and make recommendations for public healthcare providers.

This study employed a cross-sectional multimedia audit to examine the marketing and promotion of products under the scope of the Code, as well as those regulated by the Philippine Milk Code. The analysis of marketing elements reveals that the CMF industry circumvents the Philippine Milk Code through the use of false and misleading health and nutrition claims, emotionally manipulative language in promotional materials, and cross-promotion. The findings indicate gaps in enforcement and regulatory measures that require urgent attention.

Published in leading peer-reviewed journals, our research is the foundation of all our work, informing the technical assistance we provide to governments, serving as the basis for our knowledge products, and informing advocacy for stronger nutrition policies.

Despite WHO recommendations, many COVID-19 maternal and newborn care guidelines failed to recommend skin-to-skin contact, rooming-in, and breastfeeding as the standard of care. Irregular guidance updates and the discordant, but influential, guidance from the United States Centers for Disease Control may have been contributory. It appeared that once recommendations were made for separation or against breastfeeding they were difficult to reverse. In the absence of quality evidence on necessity, recommendations against breastfeeding should not be made in disease epidemics.

Some mothers who would like to continue breastfeeding are forced to stop so that they can return to work. Workplace Lactation Support programs are an effective way to address this problem. This short video introduces the key elements of a successful program -- Space, Time, and Support -- as they were developed by ofi, a major food ingredients company, in 11 of its factories in Viet Nam.
