This study investigated whether participation in nutrition-focused antenatal care can be a way to reduce food insecurity during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Alive & Thrive integrated nutrition interventions into an existing Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health program in Bangladesh, with the intention of improving knowledge about the importance of nutrition for pregnant and lactating women. The results showed that participation in nutrition-focused antenatal care reduced food insecurity among pregnant and postpartum women, representing a potential effective means to encourage allocation of household resources to reduce food insecurity in populations with limited resources.
