This study explored predictors of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) in Bangladesh using data from the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey from 2007, 2011, and 2014, focusing on reasons why rates of EBF changed over those time periods. Mother/infant pairs were examined at the three time points, showing that EBF increased from 2007 and 2011, with an unexplained decrease from 2011 to 2014. The results highlight key determinants that could be relevant for increasing EBF and can inform future predictions, such as promoting women’s empowerment and decision making, incorporating policy changes to encourage breastfeeding-friendly workplaces, and interventions such as peer counselling, antenatal education, and community awareness to promote EBF.
