This desk review aims to identify critical nutrition problems of adolescent girls in the age groups of 10 to 14 years and 15 to 19 years in Ethiopia and the associated factors based on recent studies.

Adolescence is a critical period of physical and psychological development, especially for girls, because poor nutrition can affect their wellbeing as well as that of their children.

This study conducted in Ethiopia’s SNNP and Somali regions tested the impact of a package of nutrition interventions delivered primarily through schools and implemented by Alive & Thrive on the diet of adolescent girls.

Alive & Thrive's implementation research spans its program areas, seeking to answer "how" to implement effective interventions and policies. Active studies are detailed in the attached documents.

Data from the 2005 Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey (EDHS) and the 2007 Zambia Demographic Health Survey (ZDHS) were analyzed to examine the association between recommended IYCF indicators and nutritional status among children 0-23 months of age in Ethiopia and Zambia.
